Ongoing R&D – FPGA-Based Embedded System and Z-Axis Calibration Upgrade
Overview
This ongoing R&D effort is for a European manufacturer of automated biomedical analyzers, aiming to modernize embedded control and improve calibration precision.
Problem Statement
The existing equipment relied on fixed-function controllers and manual needle alignment, which
limited scalability and introduced operational inconsistencies.
Our Solution
SIOT is redesigning the embedded system using FPGAs for reprogrammable control and building a motorized Z-axis calibrator for software-adjusted needle height alignment.
Technologies Used
- FPGA
- Stepper motor with encoder
Key Features
- Deterministic FPGA logic
- Sub-mm needle positioning
- Reusable calibration presets
